WE Hotel Toya is located by the shore of Lake Toya in Hokkaido, where the ever-changing scenery is dictated by the seasons. Designed by architect Kengo Kuma, the interior space is covered by pleated fabrics reminiscent of Japanese origami and chōchin paper lanterns, evoking a cave that opens towards the lake. The interior is composed mainly of wood, using locally sourced cedar wood, and furnished with wooden bathtubs.
The hotel has a total of 55 guest rooms furnished with MA sofas and NC chairs developed in collaboration between Time & Style and Kengo Kuma. We also designed and created sofas, chairs, and high stools for the public space on the first floor.
