Situated within the precincts of Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine, the event hall Shin-Hikawa Kaikan has been completely renewed. For this project we were delighted to provide three types of chairs to harmonize and complement three event spaces: the main hall, balcony and separate Japanese-style room.
For the main hall we proposed the Leonardo seamless chair, a compact design with an upholstered backrest, in anticipation of many guests bringing a handbag or purse. For the balcony we proposed Sakura Sakura lounge, a chair with a lattice backrest, which perfectly harmonizes with the traditional Japanese architectural style and the latticework of the balcony itself.
In the separate Japanese-style room we proposed our Musashi chair, characterized by its connected rear and front legs, enabling ease of use over tatami mat floors. Built to special order, these chairs are lower than our normal model, and by changing the backrest to a rattan weave to reduce any undue dominance, the result is an overall space that appears airy and inviting.
