Open House Osaka 2023 (Ikefes Osaka for short), started in 2014, is one of the largest architectural events in Japan that runs open days at buildings in Osaka for free. There will be more than 170 buildings scheduled to open to the public this year, which is the largest number ever. From masterpieces by celebrated architects to coffeehouses with hints of old Showa-era atmosphere, you will find living architecture that recount the charms of Osaka.
Osaka Shashin Kaikan, where Time & Style Osaka is housed, is also a building that reflects the bold and robust nature of the high economic growth period. Constructed by what is now Haseko Corporation, the building had once been a hub for camera aficionados with an array of photography and camera-related tenants. This year, the building commemorates its 60th anniversary of construction.
During the event, we will open one of the rooms on the second floor, which is not usually open to the public, to showcase the historic Taizan tiles and glass blocks. In addition, on display in the store will be products made using traditional techniques, highlighting the artistry of Time & Style.
