Design by Claesson Koivisto Rune
The Takete easy chair was originally designed as a custom-made seat for the guest rooms of K5, an award-winning hotel and multi-use space in central Tokyo, designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune Architects.
The design of the Takete easy chair is driven by provocative and uncompromising aesthetic choices, resulting in a powerfully graphic silhouette.
The crisp, angular planes, with their sharp-looking corners, meet along strict folds, in a cross-like configuration. Reminiscent of a flower with petals, yet abstracted and origami-like. Takete offers a gently reclined seating position, with one of the planes forming a headrest.
Slimmed down yet perfectly optimised padding can be found on Takete’s upholstered surfaces. Although discreet, these subtle developments offer a reassuringly high level of comfort.
